 In preparation for the African Explosion V on December 6th, 2008, The African
Diaspora Club will be having its annual "Africa Week" December 1st through
the 4th. Each day has a special focus, so be sure to participate in all of the
events as the most highly anticipated date of the semester draws near!!! Africa
Week is not only an opportunity to invite the Towson Community to our event; it
is also a way for us to educate members of the community about our rich, vibrant,
diverse African cultures and issues pertaining to the continent. In addition to
the planned events, we will also be showing different African movies each day
so come out and join us for a week of fun as we prepare for "take-off"
on December 6th!

What country do you rep? Well...here's your chance to Rep Your Country on Monday,
December 1st by either wearing traditional wear, the colors of your country's
flag or wearing colors representative of the continent!! Be sure to stop by
our table on the second floor of the union between the hours of 10 a.m. and
3 p.m. and help us advertise for Explosion and celebrate the richness of our
diverse cultures! You can Rep Your Country the entire week as well!

=> Tuesday: Give Back; ADC fundraising day. (From 10AM to 3PM in the University
Union)
Join ADC on the second floor of the union from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as they raise
funds for the women and the girls of the Panzi Hospital in the Democratic Republic
of Congo. These women and girls have been brutally raped, tortured and used
as weapons of war throughout the decade-long war that has ravaged the DRC. Write
notes of encouragement to these women and girls on special stationery and we
will send them over to VDAY, a non-profit organization that works with women
all over the world such as the women of the Panzi Hospital. We will also be
educating the Towson community about the war in the Congo that has claimed the
lives of an estimated 6 million people.

=> Wednesday: Taste of Africa! (From 10AM to 3PM in the University Union)
Stop by our table on the first floor of the union between the hours of 10 am
to 3 pm for a taste of authentic, mouth-watering, African cuisines! Members
of the organization will be preparing various dishes for members of the Towson
community to sample...the food goes quickly so come early!! The organization
will also be having a bake sale that day to fundraise so please come out and
buy some delicious cookies, brownies, cupcakes and cake!!!

=> Thursday: Pre-Explosion Jump Off! (From 4PMto 6.45PM in the University
Union)
With Explosion only two days away, the African Diaspora Club will be having
its pre-explosion celebration during its regular ADC meeting from 4 p.m. to
6:45 p.m. in the Loch Raven room, University Union. There will be food, music,
games, prizes and lots more! Come celebrate with us as we close out Africa Week
and share in our excitement for African Explosion V: "Airways D'Afrique;
A Voyage Across Great Nations".
