I am Africa

Look at me!
What is it that you see? You see
Get past my shoes
The source of my feuds
Look beyond my clothes
And the polish on my toes
Yes, I know my style is chic,
My beauty-
In my physique
But have you noticed my mystique
That fact I am unique
You see beneath these clothes, nose
And other things you may behold
Lies a woman with sense
And unshakeable strength
I am equipped with wisdom
Knowledge rifles in my suit
And if you test my intelligence
I am not afraid to shoot
My ancestral descent
And the history I represent
Are reasons enough for me to be content
So I say it with pride
-
I AM AFRICAN-
Content with who I am
Don’t you see my full lips?
The curvaceousness of my hips
My radiant dark skin
And wholesome thighs should be a sin
So I’ll proclaim it with pride
To acquaintances and kin alike,
And with my head held high
I Am African
Content with who I am
Don’t you see my full lips?
The curvaceousness of my hips
My radiant dark skin
And wholesome thighs should be a sin
So I’ll proclaim it with pride
To acquaintances and kin alike,
I AM AFRICAN-
Content with who I am
My courage stems from the pain
My ancestors constrained
And despite foes’ dislike-
It still remains untamed
Like the blood running through my veins
And the thickness of my mane
I AM AFRICAN-
Content with who I am
My home is blessed
With resources, jewels, the best
And though my people are oppressed
They refuse to be suppressed
That is the history and strength I will continue to represent
You see not only am I African,
I AM Africa
It is present in my stride
It is present in my stride
It is the essence of my pride
Yes I’ll declare it nationwide
With not a single thing to hide
I AM AFRICA
And I am content with who I am
My home is blessed
With resources, jewels, the best
And though my people are oppressed
They refuse to be suppressed

That is the history and strength I will continue to represent
You see not only am I African,
I AM Africa
It is present in my stride
It is the essence of my pride
Yes I’ll declare it nationwide
With not a single thing to hide
I AM AFRICA
And I am content with who I am
